A selection of recent PKBC packages for tier-1 main contractors and energy developers, starting with internal fit-out on new transmission infrastructure for SSEN.

Gremista Grid Supply Point 132kV Substation, Shetland

Location: Gremista, Shetland

PKBC delivered the complete internal fit-out of the new grid supply point serving the Shetland HVDC link. The package covered system scaffold, blockwork, drylining and joinery, timber and suspended grid ceilings, a kitchen, fire doors with ironmongery, and painting, spraying and taping, including acid-resistant and anti-slip coatings.

Kintore 132kV Substation, Phase 3

Location: Kintore, Aberdeenshire

On Phase 3 of the Kintore substation we delivered all internal fit-out works: system scaffold, blockwork, drylining and joinery, timber and suspended grid ceilings, a kitchen, fire doors with ironmongery, painting, spraying and taping, and firestopping and fireproofing.

Thurso Synchronous Condenser, 400kV Transmission Substation

At the Thurso synchronous condenser substation PKBC carried out additional works packages, including the application of anti-slip floor paint to all floors of the facility.

Gretna Grid Stability Plant, 275kV Substation

At the Gretna grid stability plant on the border we completed requested works packages, including final grouting of the external fire wall and firestopping and fireproofing.

Eye Synchronous Condenser, 400kV Grid Stability Facility

At the Eye grid stability facility in the east of England PKBC carried out additional works, including the supply and installation of fire doors and painting works.

Beatrice 400/220kV Substation, Blackhillock

Location: Blackhillock, Moray

PKBC delivered the full internal fit-out for the Beatrice substation at Blackhillock: blockwork, drylining and joinery, timber and MF suspended ceilings, fire doors with ironmongery, painting, spraying and taping including acid-resistant and anti-slip coatings, raised access floors, and firestopping and fireproofing.

Live substations

Renovation and repair inside operational SSEN substations, delivered under live-site permits and controls.

Lochay 132kV Live Substation, Existing Building

Working inside a live, operational substation, PKBC renovated the existing Lochay building: demolition works, stripping and replacement of the old high-level timber ceiling, painting and taping including acid-resistant coatings, and the design and installation of fire doors with ironmongery.

Beauly 132kV Substation, Existing Building

At the existing part of the live Beauly substation we carried out repair works, including stripping and replacement of the reveals to the external steel fire doors, together with painting works.

Lochay 132kV Substation, New Building

Alongside the renovation of the existing building, PKBC delivered the complete internal fit-out of the new Lochay substation building: drylining and joinery, MF suspended ceilings, a kitchen, fire doors with ironmongery, painting, spraying and taping including acid-resistant coatings, and firestopping and fireproofing.

Kelvin ERF 44MW Substation

Location: West Bromwich, West Midlands

Kelvin is a 44MW waste-to-energy facility in West Bromwich. PKBC undertook a design and build main contract for one of the buildings, covering system scaffold, brickwork and METSEC installation, drylining and joinery, MF suspended ceilings, external steel fire doors, mechanical and electrical works, plumbing, painting and taping, and roofing.

Glenglassaugh Distillery

Client: Brown-Forman
Main contractor: Luddon Construction
Location: Aberdeenshire

For a whisky warehouse at Glenglassaugh Distillery, PKBC installed over 1,000 square metres of system scaffold and built over 1,000 square metres of concrete block walls, then painted the walls, applied floor line marking and carried out diamond core drilling.

Biohacking Studio, Switzerland

PKBC delivered the complete internal fit-out of this overseas project in Switzerland: drylining and joinery, kitchen and furniture installation, door installation, painting, spraying and taping, and flooring.
